SPCA Penang
Welcome to our June 2026 Newsletter!

Dear Members & Friends,

Good greetings to all!

We just have had our Annual General Meeting  with just enough quorum to proceed. Though we have a substantial number of members, we understand that most join with a view to support as they love animals. However, as members of the society, we encourage each and every one of you to come to our Annual General Meetings, as it is your right as a member to get to know the management committee. There was no election held this year as the members elected serve a term for two years. Our election of office bearers is conducted biennially as approved by the Registrar of Societies. We hope to see more new faces coming in showing interest in animal welfare. Anyone interested to become a member of the society, please go to this link.

Adoptions

The month of May was cats’ month. We had more cats adopted than dogs.

We love hearing from our adopters keeping us updated and sharing photos and videos on how our adopted pets are doing at home. Thanks to all who have kept in touch with us. It is wonderful to receive news on how our pets are settling in. It is wonderful to hear from them from time to time.

Happenings & Visits

SPCA Spaying Campaign

We will keep reminding everyone on the importance of spaying/neutering. Even if one who does not own a pet, at the least SPCA would like you to help spread the word around to encourage neutering to friends/relatives who do own. Our free offers of 20 subsidized neutering vouchers stays available for grabs monthly. Pet owners could call us at 04-2816559 or walk in to the shelter during our opening hours for more details.

Many may not be aware when it is the right time for spaying. We encourage pet owners to start neutering their pet especially female be it cat or dog as early as five to six months of age. If in doubt, do call or visit a vet for more details. Thousands of lives can be saved when neutering starts at an early age!

Adoption is a promise, then followed by neutering which helps save lives.

Community Service

MCKL visits

Our shelter animals have had happy times with two groups of students from MCKL as they are required to put in 20 hours of service with NGOs. We thank them for choosing SPCA.

Charity Run - Donation Drive at Dell

We had the opportunity to collect donations from Dell staff at two of their offices and plants in Penang and Bukit Minyak. We would like to thank the Organisers and Management Team for having SPCA in mind. And also, the participants who chose to register for the charity run and donate to SPCA. Their kind gesture is indeed appreciated.

Inti College Fundraising

A team of 12 students from Inti College A301SAM organized a fundraising CLUES FOR CARE: INTI CHARITY JUBENSHA EVENT. Monies raised were channeled into the SPCA Neutering fund. We thank the team for their hard work and efforts put in.
