SPCA Penang
Welcome to our November 2025 Newsletter!

Dear Members & Friends,

Good greetings to all!

We receive quite a number of requests from animal rescuers asking if we can provide monetary aid to support their mission whenever an animal rescued is sent to a veterinary clinic. We appreciate their actions in rescuing the stray animals. Unfortunately, we do not provide medical aid for such as our funds are meant to aid the animals at our shelter only. However, we are able to provide free medical consultation for the animal rescued only on designated days when our Hon. Veterinarians visit the shelter to attend to our animals. We will try the best we can to offer our help. Please do give us a call to make an appointment (04 2816559/016 4166559).

Adoptions

We only had one cat (Winter) and two dogs (Omi & Todd) find their forever homes in October. Omi is a calm and gentle dog who has been with us at the shelter for two and a half years. We are happy that she has been adopted to keep company with our earlier SPCA adoptee Jack, who was adopted in year 2020. Todd, a senior male poodle, was brought in to us after being found wandering the streets, no owner has been found, so we are delighted he has found a new home.

Happenings

What better way is there for children who are unable to have their own pets but to come spend some time with our animals at the shelter. In conjunction with World Children’s Day students from the Penang Waldorf Centre had a field day contributing their services towards the shelter. The students were of great help in clearing all the fallen leaves and branches which blocked the drains of our dog exercise compound due to the heavy downpour. Some were exposed to handling and socializing with our dogs and cats.

NGO Fair at Uplands International School 6th October

It was our first appearance at the NGO Fair held at the Uplands International School. Thank you ISP for the invitation. Though we were short-handed, we had one of our office personnel who attended. Our grateful thanks to the coordinator Ms. Alice for her kindness in arranging for student volunteers to help out whenever needed that day. It was an opportunity for the society to showcase the shelter and create awareness to the students who came by in droves from the morning until afternoon.

Social visit and volunteering

We welcomed a group of students and a lecturer from MSU College with a view to visit and perform some social service for the animals. Sad to note that the students did not have the courage to handle dogs and most opted to spend time with the cats as well as doing other cleaning jobs assigned.

Announcement: We would like to advise that the charity cycling event "Paws and Pedals 2025" in collaboration with INTIMA, the Student Government Body of Inti College, has been postponed until further notice. We thank the organizers for the efforts put in.
