In these past few months, SPCA has noticed an increase in the number of strays being reported. The most reported were cats compared to dogs. When calls for such matters are received, the public will be directed to call their respective Majlis, be it the MBPP or MPSP. For people who are not aware, SPCA will not catch healthy stray animals be it licensed or unlicensed. We are able to help only when the public is able to confine the stray in their compound and/or stay with the stray animal till our unit arrives. At end May, we have picked/received/collected a total of 474 animals.

We just wish that we could save all these animals we receive with takers who would be willing to provide support and action in:
  1. Giving them a good home
  2. Helping to rehabilitate when they are abandoned/given up
  3. Giving them the care and veterinary treatment needed for those that come in bad condition
  4. Helping to foster and nurse the very tiny young ones for a period of time until they can be ready for routine vaccinations and then put up for adoption.
We would be very happy to hear from anyone who can help in any of the above. We appreciate the challenge of this 13 year old boy Harish who has willingly answered our request to foster this tiny pup brought in. Harish just attended our last Volunteer Briefing Session held on 21st May and is prepared to take on this responsibility to save a life. Do you want to partake in this program?

Our adoptions for May remained the same as in the previous month. We only had 6 dogs & 1 cat given a second chance. We understand that it is not practical for one to just come and take any animals available for homes. The reality is that the one chosen needs to fit in with the whole family. It is also of utmost importance that the entire family must be able to bond with the animal before making the decision to commit as one has to commit for its entire life. We share happiness with every animal adopted and we wish the owners the best.

Volunteers are badly needed on weekdays to help socialize/interact/rehabilitate with our animals waiting for homes. If you have the time to spare at least 2 hours on a regular basis any week day (Monday to Friday) for this particular activity, kindly call or email. Our furry paws will be happy to receive you.

Once again, we are calling for anyone interested/good in art and designing to join in this competition. SPCA prints tshirts for sale as a means of fundraising to help maintain its work towards animal welfare. You can submit as many entries as you can and please note the requirements as indicated.

We wish to remind people who have booked and/or purchased tickets for the above show to come Sunday 5th June at the penangpac in Straits Quay. Time: 8.30 p.m. On behalf of both charities Joblink Centre (The Society for the Aid To The Handicapped ) and the SPCA, we thank you for your kind support. For your info, we do still have a few tickets available. Interested, kindly call at 2816559 on how to purchase/collect your tickets.

We will be happy to receive any of item 1 (still functioning) that you have to spare:
  1. 2 units camera for our Inspectors' and office use for investigation purposes
  2. Food for cats and dogs (Please call to find out the type of food needed)
  3. Treats for dogs (for use by volunteers during interaction and socializing sessions

SPCA TEAM wishes all fathers a Happy Fathers' Day
