We hear very often that Year 2017 will not be good for everyone and it is going to be tough, so much so that it will also affect NGOs too. Well, we need to stay positive and hope for the best with each and every one's blessing too.

To summarize how we fared in 2016, we are doing not too bad after all, though our adoption rate has gone down compared to the previous year. We were not heavily packed with too many abandoned animals and this allowed us to extend their stay at the shelter for rehoming. We are glad that more students from schools and colleges have made their choice to visit SPCA to perform their community service. This, in a way, helps create awareness and makes them understand the perception on how the abandoned/unwanted animals end up in shelters. Thus, the need to inculcate Responsible Pet Ownership is important.

Happy New Year to everyone reading this and may you be blessed with all positive vibes as you go through the Year 2017, Year of the Rooster.

The month of December ended with 11 animals adopted. Thus, the number of animals adopted in 2016 was 91 comprising of 75 dogs and 16 cats. For adoption, please visit our adoption gallery at www.spca-penang.net.

City Walk 1.1.17
The first day of the year is always a day where we collaborate with the Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang at the City Walk to celebrate City Day. We were given the opportunity to hold an exhibition to create awareness of our work as well as encourage pet owners to be aware of their responsibilities as a pet owner. In addition, SPCA organized two fun games at its booth.

Visit by Inner Wheel Club of Penang
On 20.12.16 we were visited by the President and Members from Inner Wheel Club of Penang. A cheque presentation for RM500 towards purchase of pet food for our shelter animals was made.

Mural Art Painting
Three students - Amber, Josh and Sam - presented their mural artwork on our wall entrance leading to our Dogs for Adoption kennels.

Charity Sale by Teen Artist Ho Chung Kwang
SPCA is appreciative of the thoughts by teen artist Ho Chung Kwang who kindly donated his art pieces printed on t-shirts for sale at the Sunday Pop Up Market. He has pledged to donate proceeds from the sale to the society.

Kids workshop on Responsible Pet Ownership
A total of 53 kids and adults attended our workshop tailored for kids during the long school holiday period.

To all garden enthusiasts, we have lots of garden pots big and small available to be picked up. Do drop by our shelter.

SPCA would like to convey its condolences to the family of the late Choi Hon Ming who passed away on 3rd Dec. The late Choi Hon Ming had been a volunteer and supporter during one of our Food Fairs held at the Municipal Recreation Park. May His Soul Rest In Peace.

SPCA thanks all the kind hearted members, volunteers and donors who have supported us in cash, kind and in service throughout the years. Without their allegiance to the SPCA, we would not be able to stay afloat over these years. The SPCA TEAM and its Furry Paws thank you so much for your warmth and kind support.

We hope to have the following coming in continuously for the animals at the shelter

1. Pet food - canned
2. Pet food - dry kibbles preferably for puppies and kittens
3. Powdered milk for puppies and kittens
4. Your continuous contribution. Make a pledge to donate monthly. Any amount is greatly appreciated. To make this pledge happen, you could click on to our website donation page and perform your transaction on line. We thank you in advance.

SPCA TEAM Thank you.
