A Very Happy New Year to All. May you have a wonderful year filled with an abundance of joy and happiness with your pet and your loved ones.

Just before the start of the New Year, we had been receiving a few lost/abandoned dogs which obviously does not reflect well on society. With the recent statement of MPPP's dated 27th December 'WELFARE OF DOGS IN MIND', it is the right timing for MPPP to step in to help reduce the number of strays by educating the owners on responsibilities of raising a pet through its dog licensing campaign. Shelters are not able to achieve that alone by themselves. SPCA applauds and welcomed the MPPP's effort to introduce a microchip implant to prevent any abandonment cases of pets. The number of dogs reported missing/lost/abandoned has increased. We hope the microchip implant ruling can be introduced soon to benefit all.

'WE LEARN - RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP WORKSHOP' jointly partnered with Smartheart Perfect Companion Group

Our workshops for kids held during the school holidays last year have benefitted a total of 94 kids. We thank the parents for taking the initiative to bring their kids over to the shelter. SPCA also appreciates the partnership of Perfect Companion Group.

On record, SPCA has raised awareness of its work and activities to more than thirteen thousand people through its events and programs organised in year 2014.
From a recent workshop:

Our adoptions for the month of December were extremely low as we only managed to rehome 1 cat and 5 dogs bringing the numbers to 30 cats and 109 dogs for the year 2014.

Jamie (aka Vios) adopted from the SPCA says hello to all of us and wishes SPCA will have more happy and blessed homes for the year 2015. She is healthy and happy with her owners Intan and Hafiz who are now based in Johor.

Penang SPCA would like to convey our appreciation to all who have visited and supported us at our booth. We were informed that the crowd for the year's event had increased. Our appreciation also to Jabatan Rekjreasi, Pelancongan dan Perhubungan Antarabangsa, Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang for the kind invitation extended to SPCA.

In view of the coming Chinese New Year Festivity, SPCA will be promoting the sale of CNY Cookies as a means to fundraise for the society. A separate flier for the sale of CNY Cookies will be circulated soon.

This is scheduled for January 17 at 9 a.m. sharp. Should anyone wish to be a volunteer and do not know how to go about it, kindly download the volunteer application form from, complete and bring it along with you that day.
