SPCA Penang
Welcome to our October 2023 Newsletter!

Dear Members & Friends,

Good greetings to all!

Let’s not forget that World Animal Day falls on 4th October each year. The theme for this year is "Great or Small, Love Them All". As we share the planet together with the animals, we also believe that respect for life begins with great concern and care for the animals as well as our environment too.

This day in 2023 is marked as a very special day for all of us at the SPCA to remember. This is the first time where staff had the experience to help make preparations to have one of our shelter dogs "Domino" be sent off to a new home in Germany. Though we dread the long journey that Domino will have to go through, we are confident that it will be a happy ending for him when he arrives to meet his new owner.  The new owner volunteered with us while based in Malaysia, fell in love with Domino and was determined to take him back to Germany with her. To the owner and Domino, SPCA wish you both well and thank you.

Here's Domino leaving SPCA on the left (agent, transporter and our Administrator) and arrviing at KLIA on the right.

Adoption is a Promise

Five cats and three dogs left the shelter for new homes in September. Our kennels and catteries are at the brim now with more cats and dogs received. We seem to be having more and more requests for the surrendering of pets.

Activities & Happenings at the Shelter

Talks and interview sessions with students from the various schools and colleges/universities were conducted. We welcome the new batch of students from POWIIS who are coming for their weekly activities.

On 4th September we were visited by a group of 40 home schooling kids of ages 8-18 years, together with their teachers and parents from Light Fireplace Enterprise. Sadly, as it was a day of raining cats and dogs, the group was not able to interact much with the dogs. We hope they enjoyed their time mostly with our cats in the cattery. We would also like to thank them for their donations collected for the society.

SPCA Digital Calendars 2024

Just want to advise we have decided not to print Desktop Calendars for 2024 due to an increase in printing costs and difficulty in marketing to the public.

But fear not, we have developed three designs of digital calendars. We can send to you electronically and you may distribute “as is” free of charge to friends/family/customers/etc, but for a minimum donation of RM50 for the single page designs and RM500 for the full 13 page design, we will customize the artwork using photos you provide. Text can be modified, but we will retain our logo and “SPCA Penang” on the artwork to help promote our shelter and create awareness. All funds received for donations for the calendar customization will be channeled to our neutering fund and a tax exempt receipt will be issued for all monetary donations.

Some thumbnails below but you can find full details here https://spca-penang.net/2024-digital-calendars/ - all enquiries to photos@spca-penang.net please.

We're happy to answer any of your questions.
