Welcome to our June 2023 Newsletter!

Dear Members & Friends,

Dear Members and Friends,

Good Greetings to all.

It is very common that we hear of animals being dumped here and there. There’s usually no way to prove who their owners are, even if one knows who owns it. There will be unpleasant arguments when confronted.

We get many dumped at our entrance by the public and sometimes even at odd hours hoping that no one will notice them. It is time that the authorities at the Government level that deal with Licencing look into this seriously and make microchipping compulsory. It is a daily occurrence for us to get reports of animals lost. Making microchipping compulsory at point of licencing will indeed help to reunite animals with their owners quickly whether they are found after getting lost or are deliberately abandoned/dumped. At the moment, while some pets are microchipped, when found after getting lost, there is no way of getting them reunited as there is no central database system to get connected with their owners. Thus, they became strays and burdens to society.

Just some recent images: hamsters dumped at a car wash, pup left outside our gate, others found on the street or in drains, and lastly newborn pups left in a plastic bag in a residential area.

Adoption is a Promise!

In May, we only managed to rehome three dogs, one cat and a hamster. Looking for quality homes is always on our list of priorities. This means that we would like our animals to go to owners who are genuinely able to commit for the pet's lifetime.

Activities & Happenings at the Shelter

We are happy to see the completion of the mural art painting on our cattery and kennel walls. Thanks to the Year 11 & 12 ECHO Club students at Dalat International School.

Following the fundraising event theme PAWCARE by TARUMT students, SPCA was presented with 3 cartons of cat food during their visit to the shelter on 12th May.

Several students from Fairview International School are doing community service at our shelter on a regular basis to get them accredited for the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
