Dear Members & Friends
Greetings from the SPCA Penang!
With the full lockdown that began June 1, we regret to inform everyone that the shelter is closed to visitors and volunteers. Let us all stay safe, stay home and help fight against this pandemic crisis which has been with us for more than a year. At this difficult and tough time with no visitors, shelters will face problems in finding homes for the many animals in their care. The many strays out there who need feeding daily by social and/or community feeders may not be able to receive their regular meals during this present situation where everyone has to stay home.
We urge pet owners to be more concerned over the pet population of stray cats and dogs. Do think of neutering your pet to avoid the many being born and abandoned. Shelters be it with 'kill' or 'no kill' policies are all at bursting point and won’t be able to accept and handle requests for taking them in. Even the trap, neuter and release method will not favor everyone in the community. This is the reality of life we face each day when the public calls to report and/or complain. The worst now is on the stray cat population.
Volunteer Service
To the many regular volunteers who called to request coming in to spend time with the animals at the shelter, we regret that we have to turn down your offer. We will announce once we are able to accept.
We hope everyone will stay safe, stay healthy and get energized with our animals once we allow visitors.
