SPCA Penang
Welcome to our March 2026 Newsletter!

Dear Members & Friends,

Good greetings to all!

Many have come by to visit for adoption but it is sad that it seems our dogs are not suitable enough to fit into their homes? We just wish they are not brushed off by the visitors. We respect their choices as we know the animals will be with them for life if they get to find their forever homes. It would be more meaningful and appropriate, if they can be taken out and spend some time with their potential adopters. We are often asked, how long will you keep them? We have no fixed duration as to how long we keep them. We understand that for some, the size and age matters. We have difficulties in rehoming and we sincerely hope these animals which have overstayed at the shelter can be given a second chance.

Come meet Cass - she has been abandoned at the shelter for four years now with no hope that the feeder will come back as promised after we had her neutered. Cass is calm & gentle - do give her a chance.

Alfie was adopted and brought back over two years ago, although no fault of hers with a complaint of being destructive. It is heartbreaking to see failure and returned only for this reason. She was a puppy and just needed time & training but was not given the chance.

Adoptions

At the moment there are lots of puppies just over two months old available for adoption. We hope they can be rehomed quickly before they grow into adulthood. For February, we only manage to re-home three puppies and one cat.

Happenings & Visits

With the festive season, we had no arrangements for community service except for our regular volunteers and students coming on their own to assist in whichever manner needed.

Our furry friends were very happy to meet a group of ladies "SWEET CORN" who chose to visit and brought donations in cash and kind for the shelter.

We received many other items besides pet food from pet owners whenever their pet passed away. We have lots of items such as: 1) buster collars for dogs 2) pampers 3) wee pads 4) cages 5) harnesses 6) adjustable wheel chair for small breed dogs 7) doggie clothes etc. If ever these items suits your pet, please drop by to view at our jumble corner.

Volunteer Briefing

Our next volunteer briefing be held on Saturday 21st March. Time 9.30 a.m sharp and please be punctual.
