We were fortunate to get Todd the mixed poodle (who was found crossing at a traffic light in the Gelugor area) adopted. He was on the verge of being returned as he wasn’t touching any food at all for the first few days. His mistress had tried all types of food available to entice him. To start the year 2026, we had three cats and two dogs adopted in January. We have many puppies which have had their first vaccinations available for adoption. We also welcome fostering with a view to adopt after. This is a good way to know if you are ready to commit. Oreo was one of our fostered puppies (2nd from left). Thanks to our adopter for giving him a second chance in life.

We had a visit by two groups of students from the Tionghua Language Society from the USM offering their service to the shelter. We hope they had great fun working with the animals.

There are multiple reasons for the public to call to surrender their pets. It is indeed difficult to rehome adult animals and we wish the public would think carefully before commitment. Know your position and think deeply before engaging to commit. Unprepared ownership and rescue with good intentions can indeed lead to significant, long-term burdens on society.

Responsible rescue requires more than compassion; it demands financial, logistical, and emotional preparation to handle the often complex needs of animals. We are exhausted to hear of animals to be surrendered  every day with excuses such as "too many and unable to care for anymore". People, if you have such problems do visit any nearest shelter for help and see how you can be supported. We are offering ten neutering vouchers each month for pet owners and social feeders.
