  Dear Members & Friends,

Gong Xi Fa Cai to all our members and friends celebrating!

We hope that the Year of the Tiger will roar and bring us good cheer and great happiness throughout year 2022. A word of precaution to all pet owners, as we begin to celebrate with the firing of fire crackers to usher in the New Year we wish to remind pet owners to take measures. Kindly ensure that your pet is safe at home as it is indeed very worrisome for them. Do please find a safe place where they can distance themselves from the sound of firing crackers to avoid losing them!

Animal Adoption

We had a slow start to begin the year with adoptions. Instead calls keep coming for surrendering of animals, especially cats. For adult cats, we can only manage with the trap, neuter and return program. Our adoption picked up a bit at the end of the month but we managed to get only 10 adoptions. Meet our January adoptees.

Dog Abandonment
Many good responsible pet owners, especially those who consider pets like a member of their own family, would express disbelief to find animals abandoned. Seeing is believing when one steps into shelters to visit the many that are left behind, and every animal sheltered has a history behind it. It is indeed an eye opener for them to visit shelters. On the left is a dog which we were told was left abandoned for many days at a car park at the Halab Restaurant in Chulia Street. The one on the right was found wandering in the Taman Tun Sardon area and was brought in. Hope someone can help recognise their owners!! Do call us on 042816559 if you recognise these dogs.

Community Service
We are getting requests from various education institutions and organizations to perform their community service program at the shelter. We wish to inform that we will receive no more than 10 persons at any one time and that SOPs need to be adhered to. We are thankful to receive the first group of volunteers from Sekretariat Sukarelawan India Universiti Sains Malaysia. This group had particularly requested to perform cleaning and painting activities. They had great fun in giving the kennels a new coat of paint.

Our sincere thanks to the group of students at TARUC PUBLIC RELATIONS DPRYIS who have helped raised a sum of RM656.44 in a recently concluded fundraising event that they organized. Your good thoughts and efforts are gratefully appreciated.

Volunteer Briefing
Our next volunteer briefing will be held on Saturday 19th February at 9 a.m. sharp. We are limiting registration at 10 places. So we like to remind those interested to kindly make sure that the date is convenient to you before signing in.

SPCA Wishlist

We thank the many well wishers who brought pet food in for our animals. We will never say no to good offers of donations for the shelter. However, the SPCA team would appreciate to hear from you at 04-2816559/016-4166559 to discuss our needs.

Thank you all and STAY SAFE
