SPCA Penang
Welcome to our January 2023 Newsletter!

Dear Members & Friends,

Good greetings to all!

SPCA TEAM and its Furry Friends wish everyone good health, happiness and joy as we embrace the New Year 2023. We thank all for the wonderful support and contributions given and we hope to have your continued support in the year ahead.

We hope Year 2023 will be a joyful year where people can be more tolerant and able to live in harmony with animals peacefully, especially in Penang where most paw residents are accepted into apartments and condominiums. However, we wish that pet owners could also respect their neighbor’s sensitivity and live up to their responsibility as pet parents.

Adoption is a Promise!

December month was not promising! We only had six adoptions and that ended the year with 109 adoptions.

Looking Back at Happenings at the Shelter

With relaxation of the movement control, the comeback from the various schools, colleges, universities and organizations for their community service & CSR programs was very much needed and welcome! However, we are still careful with the number of intakes at any one time. We thank all who have participated in the past year. Your participation has touched and changed the lives of our paw friends at the shelter!

Don't Leave your Pets in the Car

Once in a while, we do get complaints from the public where pet owners leave their dog or cat behind in their cars while running errands etc. This can stress the pet as well as passers-by and the authorities concerned will be called in to take action.

Chinese New Year Cookies & Cakes

Chinese New Year is around the corner. We are taking orders for CNY cookies and cakes as a means of fundraising for the shelter. Kindly call or email us your orders.

Year 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit

As Year 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit, there are those who believe in Feng Shui may be advised or attracted to keep rabbits as their pet. A gentle reminder to all rabbit lovers: though the lifespan of rabbit is much shorter than dogs and cats, please know your responsibility before engaging into keeping one. Do consider your lifestyle as they need your time too. Do read more about keeping of rabbits before you engage into keeping one.
